Publish your first post and remove sample content Print

A new WordPress installation contains a sample post ("Hello world!"), a sample page and a sample comment. Remove them and publish your first own post.

Remove sample content

1. In the dashboard, go to Posts > All Posts.
2. Hover over the sample post and click Trash. Its comment disappears from the site as well.
3. Repeat this under Pages > All Pages for the sample page.
4. For several items: tick the boxes, choose Move to Trash under Bulk actions and click Apply.
5. To delete permanently, open the Trash view and click Empty Trash.

Publish your first post

1. Click Posts > Add New Post.
2. Enter a title and write the content in the block editor.
3. In the right sidebar, choose a suitable category under Categories and add Tags if needed.
4. Optional: set a Featured image.
5. Click Publish and confirm once more.

Tip: Use Preview to check the post before publishing; Save draft keeps it as a draft.
