Here is how to add your mailbox to the Mail app on iPhone or iPad as an IMAP account.
- Open Settings > Mail > Accounts > Add Account. (On newer iOS versions: Settings > Apps > Mail > Mail Accounts.)
- Tap Other > Add Mail Account.
- Enter your name, full e-mail address, password and a description, then tap Next.
- Select IMAP at the top.
- Under Incoming Mail Server and Outgoing Mail Server, enter the host name, username (full e-mail address) and password (see below).
- Tap Next, wait for verification and tap Save.
Which values apply depends on whether your mailbox belongs to a web hosting plan (cPanel) or to an e-mail package:
Web hosting mailbox (cPanel)
- Incoming (IMAP): mail.yourdomain.ch, port 993, SSL/TLS
- Alternatively POP3: mail.yourdomain.ch, port 995, SSL/TLS
- Outgoing (SMTP): mail.yourdomain.ch, port 465 SSL/TLS or 587 STARTTLS
- Username: full e-mail address; enable SMTP authentication (same credentials)
E-mail package (E-Mail Postfach / E-Mail Business)
- Incoming (IMAP): mail.hoston.ch, port 993, SSL/TLS
- Outgoing (SMTP): mail.hoston.ch, port 465 SSL/TLS or 587 STARTTLS
- Username: full e-mail address; enable SMTP authentication
Tip: Under the account > Advanced, check that Use SSL is on and the ports are correct.
