Here is how to add your mailbox to Microsoft Outlook for Windows (classic version, e.g. Outlook 2021 or Microsoft 365) as an IMAP account.
Outlook (classic)
- Open Outlook and click File > Info > Add Account.
- Enter your e-mail address, click Advanced options and tick Let me set up my account manually. Click Connect.
- Choose IMAP.
- Enter server, port and encryption for incoming and outgoing mail (see below) and click Next.
- Enter the password, click Connect and then Done.
New Outlook
In the new Outlook for Windows, go to Settings > Accounts > Email accounts > Add account, enter your address, choose IMAP and open Show more to enter the server settings.
Which values apply depends on whether your mailbox belongs to a web hosting plan (cPanel) or to an e-mail package:
Web hosting mailbox (cPanel)
- Incoming (IMAP): mail.yourdomain.ch, port 993, SSL/TLS
- Alternatively POP3: mail.yourdomain.ch, port 995, SSL/TLS
- Outgoing (SMTP): mail.yourdomain.ch, port 465 SSL/TLS or 587 STARTTLS
- Username: full e-mail address; enable SMTP authentication (same credentials)
E-mail package (E-Mail Postfach / E-Mail Business)
- Incoming (IMAP): mail.hoston.ch, port 993, SSL/TLS
- Outgoing (SMTP): mail.hoston.ch, port 465 SSL/TLS or 587 STARTTLS
- Username: full e-mail address; enable SMTP authentication
Note: The username for incoming and outgoing mail is always the full e-mail address.
