Create or delete a subdomain Print

A subdomain is a sub-section of your domain, e.g. blog.yourdomain.ch or shop.yourdomain.ch. It can host its own website in its own directory.

Create a subdomain

1. Log in to cPanel at https://cpanel.hoston.ch.
2. In the Domains section, click Domains.
3. Click Create A New Domain.
4. In the Domain field, enter the full subdomain, e.g. blog.yourdomain.ch.
5. Uncheck Share document root so the subdomain gets its own directory, and check the suggested path.
6. Click Submit.

If your nameservers are at hoston.ch, the DNS record is created automatically and AutoSSL issues an SSL certificate.

Delete a subdomain

1. In cPanel, open Domains > Domains.
2. Click Manage next to the subdomain.
3. Click Remove Domain and confirm.

Note: the files in the subdomain directory are kept and can be deleted in the File Manager if needed.
