A redirect automatically sends visitors from a domain, subdomain or page to another address, e.g. from yourdomain.ch/old to yourdomain.ch/new.

Set up a redirect

  1. Log in to cPanel at https://cpanel.hoston.ch.
  2. In the Domains section, click Redirects.
  3. Under Type, choose:
    • Permanent (301) – for permanent moves; search engines adopt the new address.
    • Temporary (302) – for temporary redirects.
  4. Under https?://(www.)?, select the domain or subdomain. For a single page, enter its path in the field next to it (e.g. old).
  5. Under Redirects to, enter the full target address, e.g. https://yourdomain.ch/new.
  6. For www. redirection, usually choose Redirect with or without www..
  7. Click Add.

Remove a redirect

  1. In cPanel, open Domains > Redirects.
  2. Find the redirect under Current Redirects and click Remove.
  3. Confirm with Remove Redirect.

Note: browsers cache 301 redirects. Test changes in a private window.
