Manage DNS records in the Zone Editor Print

  • DNS, Zone Editor, MX, CNAME
  • 0

If your domain uses the nameservers ns1.hoston.ch and ns2.hoston.ch, you manage its DNS records in cPanel's Zone Editor.

Common record types

  • A – points a name to an IPv4 address.
  • CNAME – points a name to another hostname (e.g. www to yourdomain.ch).
  • MX – defines which server receives e-mail for the domain; the lower priority value is used first.
  • TXT – text, e.g. for SPF, DMARC or verifications (Google, Microsoft).

Add a record

  1. Log in to cPanel at https://cpanel.hoston.ch.
  2. In the Domains section, click Zone Editor.
  3. Next to the domain, under Actions, click + A Record, + CNAME Record or + MX Record. For other types (e.g. TXT), choose Manage > Add Record.
  4. Fill in the fields, e.g. Name (shop becomes shop.yourdomain.ch) and Address, CNAME or Destination with Priority.
  5. Click Add Record.

Edit or delete a record

  1. In the Zone Editor, click Manage next to the domain.
  2. Find the record (you can filter by type).
  3. Click Edit, change the values and click Save Record, or click Delete and confirm.

Note: wrong MX or A records can make your e-mail or website unreachable. Write down the old values before making changes.
