Set up SPF, DKIM and DMARC Print

SPF, DKIM and DMARC are DNS records that prove e-mails from your domain are genuine. They improve deliverability and help keep your messages out of spam folders.

  • SPF – defines which servers may send e-mail for your domain.
  • DKIM – digitally signs outgoing e-mails.
  • DMARC – tells receiving servers how to handle e-mails that fail SPF/DKIM.

SPF and DKIM in cPanel

  1. Log in to cPanel at https://cpanel.hoston.ch.
  2. In the Email section, click Email Deliverability.
  3. Click Manage next to the domain.
  4. If a problem is shown for DKIM or SPF, click Install the suggested record.

Add DMARC

  1. Open Domains > Zone Editor and click Manage > Add Record next to the domain.
  2. Select type TXT and enter _dmarc as the name.
  3. A good starting value: v=DMARC1; p=none; rua=mailto:dmarc@yourdomain.ch
  4. Save with Save Record. Once the reports show no problems, you can switch to p=quarantine or p=reject.

Note: if your nameservers are not at hoston.ch, copy the displayed records into your provider's DNS management. For the e-mail packages (E-Mail Postfach / Business), you can get the correct records via a support ticket.
