Once an SSL certificate is active, all visitors should be redirected automatically to the secure https:// address.

Option 1: in cPanel (recommended)

  1. Log in to cPanel at https://cpanel.hoston.ch.
  2. In the Domains section, click Domains.
  3. Turn on the Force HTTPS Redirect toggle for the domain.

The toggle is only available once a valid certificate is installed for the domain.

Option 2: via the .htaccess file

In the File Manager, add the following lines at the top of the .htaccess file in your website directory:

RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{HTTPS} off
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ https://%{HTTP_HOST}%{REQUEST_URI} [L,R=301]

WordPress

  1. Log in to WordPress and open Settings > General.
  2. Change WordPress Address (URL) and Site Address (URL) to https://yourdomain.ch and save.

Tip: if the browser does not show a complete padlock after the switch, images or scripts are still loaded via http:// (mixed content). Replace those links with https://.
