Fraudsters send e-mails that look as if they come from your hosting provider. Typical examples are fake invoices, alleged domain expiry notices or warnings that your mailbox is full. The goal is to obtain your passwords or credit card details.
How to recognise phishing
- Pressure and threats such as "Your domain will be deleted today" or "Your account will be suspended".
- Links that do not lead to my.hoston.ch. Hover over the link without clicking and check the address.
- Sender addresses that only look similar, for example with swapped letters or a different ending.
- Requests to send a password or card details by e-mail or to enter them on an unknown website.
- Unexpected attachments, especially ZIP files or Office documents with macros.
What applies at hoston.ch
- We will never ask for your password by e-mail.
- Invoices and payments are always available in the Client Area at https://my.hoston.ch.
How to respond
- Do not click any links or open any attachments.
- If in doubt, open the Client Area by typing the address into your browser and check whether an invoice is really outstanding.
- Forward the suspicious e-mail to abuse@hoston.ch and then delete it.
- If you have already entered data, change the affected password immediately and enable two-factor authentication. For card details, also inform your bank.
