Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of protection to your cPanel account: when logging in, you need a one-time code from an app on your smartphone in addition to your password.

Requirement

A smartphone with an authenticator app such as Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator.

Enable 2FA

  1. Log in to cPanel.
  2. In the Security section, click Two-Factor Authentication.
  3. Click Set Up Two-Factor Authentication.
  4. Scan the QR code with your authenticator app. Without a QR scanner, enter the account name and key manually in the app.
  5. Enter the code from the app in the Security Code field and click Configure Two-Factor Authentication.

A success message confirms the activation. From now on, cPanel asks for the code at every login.

Disable 2FA

  1. Log in to cPanel and open Security > Two-Factor Authentication.
  2. Click Remove Two-Factor Authentication and confirm with Remove.

Note: If you have lost your smartphone, you can still log in via the Client Area (Login to cPanel). Otherwise, support will help you reset it. Re-enable 2FA after changing devices.
