Create a MySQL database and user Print

  • Datenbank, MySQL, Datenbankbenutzer
  • 0

Applications such as WordPress, Joomla or online shops need a MySQL database and a database user with the right privileges. The easiest way is the Database Wizard.

  1. Log in at https://cpanel.hoston.ch.
  2. In the Databases section, click Database Wizard.
  3. Enter a name for the database and click Next Step.
  4. Choose a username and a strong password (or use the Password Generator) and click Create User.
  5. Tick ALL PRIVILEGES and click Next Step.
  6. Note down the database name, username and password.

Mind the prefix

cPanel automatically prefixes database and user names with your cPanel username, e.g. myaccount_shop. Always use the full name including the prefix in your application. Use localhost as the database host.

Assign an existing user to a database

  1. Open Databases > Manage My Databases (or MySQL Databases).
  2. Under Add User To Database, select the user and database and click Add.
  3. Grant the privileges you need and click Make Changes.

Tip: If you install WordPress via Softaculous, the database and user are created automatically.
