You manage existing MySQL databases in cPanel under Manage My Databases (called MySQL Databases in some versions).
Rename a database
- Log in at https://cpanel.hoston.ch.
- In the Databases section, click Manage My Databases.
- Find the database under Current Databases and click Rename.
- Enter the new name and click Proceed.
- Update the database name in your application's configuration, for WordPress in
wp-config.php.
User assignments and privileges are kept when renaming. For large databases the process may take a little while.
Delete a database
- Make a backup first, e.g. by exporting in phpMyAdmin or via JetBackup.
- Under Current Databases, click Delete next to the database.
- Confirm with Delete Database.
Important: A deleted database can only be restored from a backup. Before deleting, make sure no website still uses it. Afterwards, remove database users you no longer need under Current Users.
