With phpMyAdmin you can save a database as an SQL file or import an existing SQL file, for example when moving a website.

Export a database

  1. Log in at https://cpanel.hoston.ch and click phpMyAdmin in the Databases section.
  2. Select the database on the left.
  3. Click Export at the top.
  4. Leave the method set to Quick and the format to SQL, then click Export or Go.
  5. The SQL file is downloaded to your computer.

To save only certain tables, choose Custom and select the tables you need.

Import a database

  1. If needed, first create an empty database (see "Create a MySQL database and user").
  2. Open phpMyAdmin and select the target database on the left.
  3. Click Import at the top.
  4. Under File to import, choose the SQL file (.zip or .gz also work).
  5. Click Import or Go at the bottom and wait for the success message.

Note: An import overwrites tables with the same name. Back up the target database first. If the file is too large to upload, compress it or open a ticket in the Client Area.
