Filters automatically sort, move or discard e-mail based on rules such as sender, subject or content. cPanel has two types: Email Filters apply to a single mailbox, Global Email Filters to all mailboxes of the account.

Create a filter

  1. Log in to cPanel and in the Email section click Email Filters (for one mailbox) or Global Email Filters (for all).
  2. For Email Filters: click Manage Filters next to the mailbox.
  3. Click Create a New Filter and enter a Filter Name.
  4. Under Rules, define the condition, e.g. Subject > contains > lottery. Use + to add more rules (combined with and or or).
  5. Under Actions, choose what should happen, e.g. Deliver to Folder, Redirect to Email or Discard Message.
  6. Click Create.

Edit or delete a filter

  1. Open Email Filters (and Manage Filters for the mailbox) or Global Email Filters.
  2. Under Current Filters, click Edit next to the filter, adjust rules or actions and click Save.
  3. To remove it, click Delete and confirm with Delete again.

Tip: Test new filters with Filter Test at the bottom of the page. Only use Discard Message if you are sure: discarded e-mails cannot be recovered.
